Almost Done

Oh my...

So, last night, Prissy had her softball tournament.  It started at 4:30 and hubby took her, Bubba had his Kindergarden graduation at 7pm.  Even though softball and graduation were a 45 minute drive apart - there should have been plenty of time.  Of course the softball went into overtime due to a tie.  It ends up that Prissy's team won - but they didn't leave until about 6:45.. They made it in time for Bubba to graduate, but missed a few of the classes.

Since Prissy's team won, they had to play tonight as well.  The game was later, so we didn't have to leave work early - but then Bubba did something and hit his head and cut it open.  I guess it really freaked out the office staff because head wounds bleed.  We had to come and get him.  The "wound" wasn't really a wound, more like a small puncture.  But, blood can freak anyone out.

The softball game this evening was very exciting.  Prissy's team was winning until the very last at bat by the other team - who then proceeded to score 4 runs.  So they lost.  I'm so glad the season is over.  T-ball is over, softball is over (except for closing ceremonies on Saturday)... I have to travel for work next week...

That's all.  Oreo is so cute.  I have this awesome video where she's falling asleep sitting up.  But, it's currently in avi format, and youtube doesn't accept avi.  I need to convert it and I just don't feel like it tonight.

So - Until tomorrow!!!

T-ball = Done

Well, the T-ball season is officially over.  We had our end of the year party, and it was really nice.  The team got me a gift certificate for a massage.  SO NICE!!!!  Anyway, I'm hoping to take advantage of that sometime soon.

The new kitty was pretty upset with us for leaving her here all day.  She's pretty much been showered with attention non-stop since Saturday and today was a little bit of a shock, and she was not happy with us.  She's feeling better now.

I'm cutting it short today - I still have to medicate the kitten and then I sort of want to go to bed early.  Yahoo!

Until tomorrow!!!

Chili -> Oreo -> Chiloreo

Ok -

So, we suck a little.  We officially named the kitten.  But, I wasn't loving it.  And today, under a flash of insight, it came to me.  OREO WILL BE HER NEW NAME.

The kids loved it.  Hubby wasn't thrilled, but went along with it.  So, I introduce you to OREO:

She's black on the outside, white on the inside and loved all over.  This is her "Jigsaw Paws" picture.  I can't tell you how sweet and loving this kitty is.  We are really enjoying her.

Onto other news.  We had our Taekwondo testing today.  Bubba is now officially a "Blue Belt Recommended" and hubby and I are offically "Green Belt - Decided."  Very exciting.  We've been practicing hard for this.  Bubba is now more than halfway to his black belt - very exciting.

There is a mirror behind him in which you can see two of his instructors (and me too - kneeling on the floor.)

And here is our happy little family after testing - we are all hot and sweaty holding our new belts:

Lots of pictures from this weekend.  We had a great weekend - very relaxing with the new kitty (and the trip to the ER.)

Tomorrow - we have Bubba's last baseball game and his end of the year party.  I've also worked hard to finish up all the gifts for the coaches.  They are all very slick.

That's all I've got -

Until tomorrow...

Chili Pepper

The Kitten is Named!!!  Her name is offically Chili (middle name Pepper).

I had to take her to the emergency vet this morning because her eyes were all gooped closed and they were just gooping everywhere.  She has a little infection and they gave us a lot of meds including eye ointment and antibiotics.  I have to say, even though she kept me up for a significant portion of last night - she is the sweetest tempermented kitty ever.  She loves the kids and lets them carry her around wherever.  Here are a few shots from today:

Kitten

Finally - at long last, we got a kitten.  We've been patiently looking since January.  We've had multiple leads that just never panned out.  Today - they did.  It helps that we are also deep into kitten season.

Here is the new addition to our family:

She is supposed to be 7-8 weeks old.  But, with the goopy eyes, she might be a little younger.  However, she is eating solid-dry food.  Now, our next hurtle is to name her.

Here are some we think are cute (voting is open feel free to add your own)

  • Pepper
  • Flash (I work in Flash memories - so it's double)
  • Astro
  • Shiloh
  • Merlot
  • Memecon - this is a joke to those I work with

*lol*  I actually think we're leaning towards the upper two.  But, we're open for suggestions.  She's a cute and very very sweet kitty.

Until tomorrow...

braces in images

Ok -

So, I didn't get it done last night, but I actually got it done tonight.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Awesome day at work today.  Feeling incredibly positive.  I just want to say WOOHOO!

I'm going to bed tonight and I'm going to sleep in late tomorrow.  I'm so excited about that.

Until tomorrow...

Braces

Prissy got her braces today.  They are pink.  I'll take a picture of her tomorrow.  Tonight Bubba had a baseball game, Prissy had a softball game and Prissy had her End of the Year Party.

Work - holy cow...

I'm actually not even sure where today went.  I got to work super early for a meeting and ended my day calling in to a meeting while trying to get my kids to and from their stuff.  I'm SOOOO looking forward to school being out and soft/baseballs to be over.

THREE DAY WEEKEND THIS WEEKEND!  YAWHOOO!!!!!!

That's all - quick update today.  Nothing terribly exciting to report on.  Not even a braces picture -

Until tomorrow..

Hectic Mom!

Ok -

I'm feeling like things are just on the verge of getting REALLY busy for the next few weeks.  Both personally and professionally.

  • Work - merger - Oh... I can't tell you how much is coming up.  Exciting!  But, SO MUCH TO DO!  SO MUCH TO DECIDE!
  • Work - going to a conference a week from Sunday
  • Home - softball / baseball games!
  • Home - baseball party needs to be planned.  A mom on the team is arranging it, but she can't do it on the night I had penciled in.  In order to have it on the night she wants it, I have to reschedule haircut appointment, I have to call and have the trophies done earlier than expected, I have to call the dad that set up this Chick-Fil-A night and ask him to cancel or postpone it.  Oh yeah, I have to make up and buy the coaches gifts... YOWSA!  I also didn't know I was supposed to buy a sponsor's gift.  We don't do that in soccer or softball - so this one caught me totally offguard.  Maybe I can do a little something.
  • Home - Prissy gets braces tomorrow.  I'm supposed to be at a meeting to answer questions.  But, I think I'll have to leave half way through it.  I can't believe she's getting braces... I haven't completely gotten out of denial about this yet.
  • Home - we have our Taekwondo belt testing on Monday.  We're not even close to having enough classes to test.  Need to practice at home some.
  • Home - my son has no shorts...
  • Home - I think I need to get teachers gifts for the end of the school year.  That happens the week I'm out of town.
  • Home - I need to get a bathing suit for our Hawaii trip.  If I wait too long - it won't be bathing suit season any longer.
  • Home - OMG I have to get my car cleaned.

On a positive note - I got my monthly report finished up.  Only a few hours late. :)  I will be working some weird hours in the upcoming months.

Ok - that's all I have - just hecticness... feeling ok so far..  I think the excitement about work is carrying me.  However, I'd like to be awake enough to watch Heroes - we are so far behind... I keep falling asleep before we can watch it.

Until tomorrow...

My Work is A-Changing

This:  Intel, STMicroelectronics Merge Flash Units is why I'm so extremely tired.  I have been behind the scenes a little bit on this - trying to help with costs in my department, etc.  We've all been waiting and waiting and waiting for an announcement.  I'm SO GLAD THAT IT'S PUBLIC NOW!!! This is a really exciting time - I can't tell you how cool this is.  Although, I've been an Intel employee for 12 years - straight out of school.  It will be quite awesome to be able to define what our new memory company will look like.  There is a huge amount of opportunity for me personally and for the people in my group.

The only downside is that I really miss my old boss.  He was pretty much super.  And I'm bummed that he won't be with the new company.  There are other downsides that not all of my group will be coming to the new company - they have other parts of Intel that they are still working with.  So, it's more the people we are leaving at Intel that bums me out - everything else is quite exciting.

This has been my life for quite some time and will continue to drive my life for the foreseeable future.  Maybe I can just consider it job security?

Until tomorrow...

May 21, 2007

Oh Man - Exhaustion

I'm tired... Really really really tired... So tired that Titus sent me home this morning... So tired that after work when I was walking into the school, Bubba's preschool teacher told me that I looked really tired.  I had sunglasses on... She could see the bags under my eyes with my sunglasses on?  Pathetic...

TIRED... I'm planning on heading up to take a shower and go to bed early.  Yes, I'm going to bed early... I'm beat, worn out, run over by a truck tired.  I guess 4 very intense days of traveling has caught up with me.

Prissy is begging to go to the Regional competition.  I looked at the times and they are doable.  Am I totally crazy...

Oh a super duper incredibly positive note - we have a THREE DAY WEEKEND this weekend and absolutely NOTHING on Satuday and Sunday.  Well, except for Taekwondo, but that doesn't really count... And we test on Monday... But, you know... :)  No softball or baseball games, no soccer games, no tournaments... We get to sleep in.. All three days... sleep... ahhh blessed sleep...

I found out I was exposed to strep throat today... I'm a magnet for strep throat.  This is a really bad time to get sick.. I just need about 3 more weeks - I can get sick then... Just not now.. Please send me your warding off strep throat germs...

Until tomorrow...

Kid Updates

This has been a big week for the kids.

First, it was the standard baseball/softball game (I only have pictures of the baseball game).  It was an absolutely gorgeous day - the games have either been too hot or too cold - the weather was ideal for this game.

Second, last Thursday I flew back for my son's musical.  I didn't realize it was going to be Night of the Dead:

Third, the baton competition... We've spent the last two days at this competition.  Prissy kicked some major butt.  Her teams won the State Championship on all three of their performances.  They wear "flair" for what is called the retreat.  This is where all the winners are announced.  The teams did just awesome!

Then, Prissy herself did amazingly well.  She ended up with 5 first places in basic, presentation and beginning solo, a 2nd place, a 3rd place and a 2nd place in the final solo (the one with the stairs)

Look at all that:

Here is the advanced solo picture.  When she was doing her first 2 spin, she threw wrong and the baton hit her in the head and knocked her glasses up to the top of her head.  She was unable to get them back on right.  But, she kept on going and did a great job (she did lose about 15 seconds.)  I was very impressed that she still won second - she did a great job with the rest of her solo.  She was quite bummed, but I'm awfully proud of her.  Now, because she got 2nd place, she really really wants to go to regionals at the end of June.  Her team isn't going - but we could go and do her individual events.  I don't know, I was sort of hoping for a little break.  But, we'll see.

I guess that's all for tonight.  Big week.

Until tomorrow...

Travel Travel Travel!!!

Holy Cow!

I've been back and forth to the Bay area for the last two days for work.  I've gotten up at crazy early hours. I'm lucky because my company has a corporate jet that flies back and forth - so I've been able to fly.  I could have stayed in the Bay Area on Thursday night, but I didn't want to miss Bubba's musical.  The musical itself was pretty horrible, but I'm so glad that I was there.  And I think it made a big difference to Bubba...

Tomorrow morning - I have to drive back to the Bay Area with Prissy - she has team events tomorrow as well as individual basic events, then we are staying over and on Sunday she has her big time individual solo events.  She's never done solo at States before.  Keep your fingers crossed for her.  It's an incredibly exciting weekend.  But, I'll tell you what, I'm absolutely and completely exhausted...

And it's just going to be a big big big weekend.  I will not update tomorrow - we'll be at a hotel and I'm just not taking my laptop (blackberry yes, laptop, no)

That's all!

Until Sunday!!!

Almost Kitten Season

Well, it's almost kitten season - and we are still looking for a kitten.  A female kitten - please let me know if you run into anyone with a female kitten.

Cra-zay-zee next couple of days.  I have to get up super early and get to work by 5:30 tomorrow morning to get on an airplane to take me to the bay area.  My co-workers are staying overnight, but Bubba has his school musical - and I just don't want to miss it - so I'm flying home (and leaving the meeting a little early to do it.  Not sure what exactly that is going to do to my career - but, my kids are forever.).  Friday morning, I'm flying back to the bay area and coming home a little later on Friday night.  Then, we'll do Taekwondo - that sort of thing.  Saturday morning - Prissy and I then DRIVE back to the bay area for her final baton competition of the year and we stay overnight and then drive back on Sunday night.

So, I will be commuting back and forth to the bay area for the next 4 days... It will be a long couple of days.

I'm feeling a little anxious about everything that needs to be done - between home and work, I'm just feeling slightly anxious.  Not overwhelmed, not yet.  Just nervous about all that there is to do and all that is upcoming.  I will be SOOOOO glad when baseball, softball and baton are over.   We're at the season end for everything right now.

Boring entry...

Until tomorrow...

Krispy Kreme

Oh Lord I love Krispe Kreme Doughnuts.  I love them like I love my children.  They are best when they are warm and delicious...

They are probably my favorite food of all time.  And they are HORRIBLE for a diet.  HORRIBLE!!! Several members of my team brought in this manna from heaven today after lunch.  Oh My Gosh!!!  I smelled them coming... I have been so cranky with my lack of white sugar - and they called to me as soon as they walked into the building...

Ciinnnnnnnddddddyyyyy.....   Ciiiiiiiinnnnnndddyyyyyyyy....

I lasted maybe 3 minutes - tops.  I cursed my team members loudly and vigorously and then I ate one.  They were warm... And delicious... Oh... yumm... It's making my mouth water just thinking about them...

Positive note - I ONLY HAD ONE!!!! YAY ME!!!!  Unfortunately, I have to weigh in tomorrow with Titus... Yikes!

Until tomorrow...

Brat vs Angel

Ok -

At the risk of sounding like a horrible horrible parent - my son has been acting like a Grade A Brat the last few weeks.  Here was a conversation we had in the car this morning:

  • Bubba:  "I hate you!"
  • Me:  "Oh yeah?  Why?"
  • Bubba:  "You brought cupcakes to my school for my birthday and they had coconut on top."
  • Me:  "You mean a year and a half ago?  The ones with the cute coconut nests with jelly beans as eggs?"
  • Bubba:  "Yes!!!  You didn't even apologize.  I hate you!!!"

I think I have glimpsed what it is like to have a teenager - except at age six.  Not fun.  He's actually had this attitude for quite some time - let me tell you it made for a GREAT Mother's Day.  We were going to go out to dinner on Saturday night and it went something like this...

  • Bubba:  "Whine whine whine whine (I can't remember what about - it could be anything.)  Scream.  Starting throwing a temper tantrum.  SCREAM!!!!"
  • Me:  "Bubba, please be nice, we're going out to dinner to celebrate Mother's Day and I'm really looking forward to this dinner."
  • Bubba:  "It's NOT EVEN MOTHER'S DAY!!!!"
  • Me:  "Ok, let's go home..."

While, true, it was not quite mother's day - hubby refuses to go out on mother's day itself because of the crowds.  So...

On the other hand, the girl child is being doubly angelic.  I think she's doing it purposely to tick her brother off.  She has been extraordinarily helpful.  She has practiced her baton (without even asking), she has practiced pitching (without being asked), she has picked up after herself and just been really really super.  But, she's sort of rubbing it in bubba's face.. Which is actually ok with me.  I gave her $5 for being so helpful with chores yesterday.

I think if Prissy was also being a brat, I might have to be committed, so I'm glad that she's being an angel.  She even made a desktop picture for my computer:

Mom

Cute way to start the day.

Anyway, I'm still seeing my trainer.  He's not the devil.  I'm not losing any weight though.  I'm very bummed about it.  Work is going to be CRAZY.  I'm ready for it.

Until tomorrow....

Happy Mother's Day

To all the mothers out there - Happy Mother's day.

We're Going to Hawaii!!!!

YAHOO!!!!  We're going to Hawaii!!!  We're taking a REAL vacation!  I cannot tell you how excited we are!!!  Or, at least I am.  HAWAII!!!  I would like to do a Luau, and see the volcanos, and spend time on the beach, and drink Mai Tais!  VACATION!!!  A real vacation where I'm not just running errands or visiting Mickey!  OMG!  Vacation... It sort of freaks me out!

We're renting a condo from a woman I work with, it looks absolutely gorgeous!  The prices cannot be beat.  There are several beaches nearby and a swimming pool and warmth... ROCK ON!

And, it's the weekend... And, I've lost almost 6 pounds... It's sort of falling off at the moment... I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Tomorrow - softball, baseball, taekwondo (Tonight, I sparred a black belt who is a champion sparrer - holy moses - he is absolutely incredible.  I swear, he'd be standing there, kicking me with one leg and the other leg would come up and kick me in the head.  I'm not sure how he was levitating.  Since he was a blackbelt -he didn't kick or hit hard - just enough to let me know he scored the point.  And the next point, and the next one and the next one. All I knew was that I was totally out of breath trying to evade his punches and kicks... Fun.. I hope to be that good one day..  He really was ninja status.  Hy-YA!)

Until tomorrow...

Pirate Coins

Bubba's birthday was last month, and I bought random crap to put in his goody bags.  One of the things I got him were these little plastic gold and silver pirate coins.  There were a TON of them, so we handed about half of them out and kept the other half for geocaching.  I haven't been geocaching in awhile.  But, regardless, these little pirate coins have been staring at me for a month.  ARRGGGHH MATEY!

Diet Update 2007:  Today was a good day.  I'm actually down like 4 pounds - Yay me!  I stayed on my program today.  I exercised like crazy tonight so I could have a glass of wine.  And now that is what I'm doing - drinking a nice glass of wine, blogging, and wondering how it go so incredibly late.

Work Update:  Holy Moses... Work is SO busy.  I do nothing but have meetings.  I have a sneaky feeling that things are going to be getting seriously more busy in the upcoming weeks - it is going to be really hard to find work-life balance, and it makes me nervous.  I actually signed up for a frequent flyer program today.  Might as well start earning free trips with all this travel that I foresee.

I guess that's all - things are pretty calm in our household.  We have some friends that are going through chaos.  I will tell you that affairs are so bad.  Don't do it!  DON'T DO IT!!!  It's so not worth the pain it causes so many other people.. IT'S SELFISH - DON'T DO IT!!!!  Completely rips families apart - I have seen it more than once.

Anyway, on that cheery note -

Until tomorrow...

May 08, 2007

Dieting

Ok -

So, I started my exercise program, and I have recently started a healthy eating program.  Ok, it's called a diet - shoot, twist my arm - it's Weight Watchers.  Today a vendor (that we spend a lot of money with) came and took us out.  Ok... I went to Fats (it's a chinese food place - and a damn good one.)

So yes, I'm on a diet and ate at a place called Fats - makes a lot of sense...

Until tomorrow...

May 07, 2007

Vacation

We're trying to plan a vacation... And it's sort of bumming me out.  We found a really nice condo in Kona, HI for quite inexpensive which one of my co-workers rents out.  I was totally jazzed about it until I started looking at airfare.  Found a great fare at a time I thought was good - but it turns out that the kids start school that week.  So, the only other time the airline tickets are twice that.  The airlines are sort of ticking me off lately.

Anyway, we're still trying to decide whether to go on this vacation or not.  We also should go to KS this summer, but we might go for Thanksgiving.  Although, KS in the winter is COLD!!!  But, maybe it would make my kids appreciate CA weather a little more.  *sigh*  Then, I have to fit all my work trips in there somewhere.  This is going to be a very very busy summer.  Or not, if I don't get off my hiney and schedule something.

Until tomorrow...

Bubble Pictures

My six year old son, Bubba, got this super cool bubble machine for his birthday.  We have either not had the time or the weather to really play with this gift yet.  Today was a very windy, but it was a warm afternoon, and we broke out the bubble machine.  It totally rocked.  We had bubbles inside of bubbles.

Bubbles!

more bubbles

By the way, I was totally impressed with myself for getting a picture of the bubbles.

As you can see, we had a pretty relaxing afternoon - bubbles, games, trip to the park, just hanging out together - today totally rocked.  Can I tell you how much I needed today - great weather, kids were in good spirits, and we just got to spend some time together doing "nothing."  I needed today...

Until tomorrow (back to work)....

May 04, 2007

Cool - A Muscle!

I went to Taekwondo tonight - came home and took a shower.  I was washing my legs and I felt a muscle that I haven't felt in awhile.  Woohoo!  I'm starting to see results of all this crazy exercise.  I'm doing not so bad on my food intake (not great, but not bad).

I'll have to give an update on my personal trainer... He's very nice - I meet him at 5am in the morning... He has this exercise ball, which I believe is evil... At times, I think he might have some evil in him as well.... If I complain AT ALL or try to cheat on some move (doing it too fast, etc.), he adds on to my reps... I think that is the evil part of him... Otherwise, he's a nice guy...

Huge sports day tomorrow... Softball, Taekwondo for Bubba, Taekwondo for hubby and me, errands (dry cleaning, gas, target), baseball game, then a Cinco De Mayo get together with our good friends.

I'm going to go watch a little TV and then off to bed.

Hubby and I just watched Firewall with Harrison Ford - really really dumb movie....

Until tomorrow...

May 03, 2007

Mr. Wizard

I used to watch Mr. Wizard as a kid.  It was one of my favorite shows.  My kids watch Magic School Bus.  Which is also pretty cool.  That is when they are not watching Spongebob (don't need a link there do I?)  I believe that Spongebob actually removes braincells - but that's ok, he makes my kids laugh.

I'm so very very tired... I think my travel and new exercise routine is catching up with me (I exercised Monday - Thursday - so Yay Me!)

I yelled at a sales person on the phone tonight - yelled at her.  I very very rarely yell at anyone.  Work was slighly stressful, we had to run to get to the Tball game on time, Bubba was in an exceedingly foul mood and we got a phone call while I was cooking dinner from this vacationing place.  Normally it wouldn't be terrible, but these people have called 5 (FIVE) times (we are on the do not call list) and they have promised to take me off each time.  Tonight was the 5th time and the last straw.  I demanded to speak to a supervisor and the lady (Sophia) said there wasn't anyone available - I'm so sure.  I told her (yelled at her really) that I would sue her personally and the company if anyone from her company ever called me again.  I feel sort of bad now.  However, I'm pretty sure this is the SAME person that has called me each and every time.  TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST NOW!  Does anyone know how I can file a formal complaint against this company?  Actually, I can't remember the company name - I want to say Great Expectations Vacations - but I think that is from Sat. Night Live in the 80s.

Until tomorrow...

May 02, 2007

I exercised today

Ugh!!!

I exercised today... A lot... And I'm going to really hurt tomorrow... I have decided that the ball is a torture device... My stomach muscles are sore... My thighs are sore... My triceps are sore... But, I guess I feel really good that I got up and exercised this morning.  Maybe I deserve some ice cream?

Until tomorrow...

May 01, 2007

Two Days In a Row

This will be my second day home in a row.  I'm very glad.  Bubba was acting up a little bit with me yesterday.  He is having these wild mood swings where he is cuddly and telling me how much he loves me and literally the next second he is whining that I won't let him do something.  It's totally exhausting.  The boy needs his mom.  I'm feeling a little bit guilty and I'm going to have a lot more traveling coming up in the near future.  I'm really really feeling bad about it.  I'm going to some neat places, but feel bad about leaving my kids at home.  I will bet you quite a bit of money that men don't feel bad about work travel.  But, I'll also bet you that working mom's in general do have this guilt.  Blech...

I feel asleep early last night, I was just plum wiped out.  I'm getting up early tomorrow to work out.  I also did my hour of cardio tonight - I did an hour of dance dance revolution... Significantly more fun than the treadmill.  However, I'm not sure I got my heartrate up enough.

Enough of that - I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight as well.  I still have Monday's Heroes on Tivo - GOTTA WATCH THAT!!!!  IT'S CURRENTLY THE BEST SHOW ON TV!!!

Until tomorrow...
